Today’s workouts

My lunch workout (which may not occur until around 2 PM or so because we’re on a deadline) will be a heavy lifting session. While I was unable to run, I felt less muscle-y — flabby, almost — despite no scale changes. There quite probably was a body fat % change. And now, it’s feeling […]

Quick notes

Did 3 miles at lunch, walking. My IT band is sore, sore, sore…I hope this isn’t another uh-oh. I’m doing great stretches for it, icing, vitamin I, etc.
Supposed to run 2 after work. But it’s almost 6 and I’m still here…again. We’ll see how it goes.
I’m off…work awaits!

A moving weekend…

…and boy, did I move!
Saturday morning, I got up early and hooked up with some folks from the Sunset Coast Striders for a planned 6 mile run. I arrived first, and 4 men and one other woman arrived soon after. We introduced ourselves and chatted for a short bit as we warmed up. It turns […]

Running progress

First, a quick rundown:
Yesterday, I ran an whole mile without any walk breaks for the first time since my knee surgery. Hurray!
Today was a great “medium” lifting session from Krista’s site.
Tomorrow, I was too late signing up for my usual Satuday spin, so I’ll be hooking up with the local running club for the […]

The gym rat crowd

I know you know them, too — I’ve seen you talk about them in your journals. Every gym/club/health center has their workout regulars. Some, we talk to and become friendly with. Others, we stereotype and acknowlege with little more than a nod hello.
Because of my twice-daily workouts, I know two entirely different crowds. Oh, there […]

Random ramblings on…

Workout clothes
Do any of you get the Athleta catalog? I absolutely love the striped workout tank that’s in the upper left corner of page 4. (I think that’s it…it’s a green stripe, and the woman is lifting.) But I can’t tell if I’m in love with the tank (which is totally overpriced) or I’m […]

Last week

…the abbreviated version:

Three days in Chicago at a conference. Got some great workouts in. Did not get a chance to climb (I had hoped to)
Did a 2-hour spin class on Sunday…it was great! I forgot, however, to use my inhaler that morning. So I never pushed myself past 80%MHR. I still had some wheezing issues […]

I don’t know why…

I’m finding it so difficult to post here regularly these days! My life is as busy as ever (maybe more busy?). I’m getting some GREAT workouts in, I’m eating right…maybe it just all seems to be the same old, same old.
Last week, when I added running back into the mix, I totally trashed myself. You […]

I can run!

Today’s irregular update:
I can run again! Doc gave me the go-ahead on Monday and I ran at lunchtime that day. He said to add it in slowly — “Don’t go out and put in 5 miles.” So I did 3 miles, mixing 3 minutes of hill running with 1 minute of walking. I’ll keep it […]

Move it outside

A few quick comments from my messy mind (line totally stolen from Charlene:
It was a gorgeous weekend here in the usually frigid midwest. Sunshine and near-60-degree temperatures tempted us out the door for long walks and just plain puttering in the yard. Glorious!

Music to workout by…do you do it? I have probably 20 […]
